Sushi restaurant charged with selling Sei whale meat

Santa mOnica sushi restaurant has been charged of selling whale meat. The investigation started last October which involved two undercover women who helped make the documentary “The Cove”. They ordered sushi at The Hump restaurant in the Santa Monica airport.

CNN reported that “ Armed with a hidden camera, the two women captured the waitress serving them whale and horse meat and identifying them as such, a federal criminal complaint said.

A receipt from the restaurant at the end of the meal identified theor selection as “whale”and “horse” with the cost $85 written next to them.”

The meat pieces were sent for the examination at Oregon State University where the whale sample was identified to be that of sei whale. The restaurant will face a fine of $200 thousand.
