Karnataka theatre and film personality Chindodi Leela passed away on Thursday 
night at a Bangalore hospital.
She died on 21 January 2010, at the age of 72 after a brief illness.
She underwent bypass surgery on last Monday. However, doctors said that she died of heart related problems.
Chief Minister B.S.Yediyurappa said that the state has lost a popular artist who was also involved in many social and developmental activities.
Chindodi Leela was a prominent figure in the Kannada theatre and film industry. She has acted in numerous Kannada Movies.
Leela ran the Karnataka Nataka Academy for over 34 years, acted in over 20 films, and was a member of the Karnataka Legislative Council.
