China said it’s up to the US to improve the relations that soured when the United States sold arms to Taiwan. The meeting of Barck Obama and Dalai Lama also contributed to the growing tension between the two nations.
Beijing was disappointed when Washington announced a $6.4 billion weapon package for |Taiwan. The announcement was made January 2010.
Beijing protested again when Obama and the exiled Tibetan leader had a meeting at the White House. Dalai Lama was accused of seeking independence for the Himalayan Region.
Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said China can’t be blamed for the difficulties of the relationship between the two nations. Yang said, US should respect China’s position and core of interest.
